The waxprinting patterns of the Miao nationality in Xiangxi not only constitute the visual core of the Miao culture,but also the symbol of its national history and cultural essence.From the perspective of semiotics,this study deeply discusses the historical significance and cultural connotation of the waxprinting patterns of Miao nationality in western Hunan.This paper makes a detailed analysis of the relationship among signifier,signified and signified of Miao batik pattern symbols in western Hunan by using relevant material data as research clues.It is found that,at the signifier level,the prominent features of the Miao batik patterns in western Hunan include the sense of rhythm and rhythm in the pattern organization,the regularity of the overall composition and the flatness of the image.In the dimension of"signified",it shows a strong nature of worship.Through the semiotic interpretation of the waxprinting patterns of the Miao nationality in western Hunan,the traditional ethnic culture of the Miao nationality in western Hunan has been further excavated and inherited,which not only fully demonstrates the unique charm of traditional Chinese culture,but also provides a valuable reference for the development of modern fashion design.
