Study on the Impact of Population Aging on the Efficiency of Green Innovation in China
Green innovation efficiency,as the integration of"innovation driven"and"green development",is an im-portant means of promoting sustainable development in China, and also an important content of developing new quality productivity.Against the backdrop of the deepening aging population in China, studying the impact of population aging on green innovation efficiency is of great significance.Based on the panel data of 30 provinces in China from 2005 to 2019,this paper uses the Super-SBM model to measure the efficiency of green innovation in China, and establishes Spatial Econometric Model to test the impact of population aging on green innovation in China. The research finds that the efficiency of green innovation in China was still at a relatively low level, showing a fluctuating upward trend within the research time frame. The efficiency of green innovation is highest in the eastern region, followed by the western and central regions, and lowest in the northeast region. The impact of population aging on China's green innovation efficien-cy shows an inverted U-shaped curve relationship of first increasing and then decreasing. In the early stage of popula-tion aging, the population aging will promote the improvement of green innovation efficiency, while the further deepen-ing of population aging, the population aging plays an inhibitory role on the efficiency of green innovation, and the spa-tial spillover effect of population aging on adjacent areas also presents an inverted"U"curve relationship. There is spa-tial heterogeneity in the impact of population aging on the efficiency of green innovation.Currently, most provinces are in the late stage or early stage of an"aging society",and the impact of population aging on green innovation efficiency is near the apex of the inverted"U"curve. Each province should seize the opportunity window period, fully develop el-derly human resources, leverage the knowledge, skills, and experience accumulation advantages of the elderly popula-tion,and improve green innovation efficiency before population aging further deepens.
