Analysis of Engineering Geological Problems and Treatment Measures of the Loess Dam Filling Project
In view of the geological problems of filling projects in loess areas, based on the Laohugou filling project in Tongchuan,Shaanxi, through geological survey and mapping, geological exploration,in-situ testing and indoor testing, analysis and study on the engineering geo-logical problems existing in the project are carried out.The results show that the Laohugou filling project has engineering geological problems such as adverse geological effects, unstable high slopes, groundwater drainage, and fill foundation deformation. The high slopes in the exca-vation area should be treated with 1∶0.5~1∶0.75 slope, back pressure slope foot, and reserve platforms and berms;compact and roll the soil materials in the fill area to eliminate their collapsibility. It is recommended that the maximum dry density value in the design is 1.73 g/cm3,and the optimal moisture content is 17.3%,and the compaction coefficient is 0.95~0.97.It is recommended to excavate the undesirable soil layer at the foundation of the retaining dam,and use reinforced soil to build the slope of the retaining dam.The slope gradi-ent should be 45°,and the slope needs to be protected against erosion. The bottom of the drainage ditch should be backfilled with less vis-cous loess, and the surface should be backfilled with more viscous red clay, and a complete drainage system should be provided on the sur-face.After the construction, combined with the soil and water monitoring plan, the soil and water variation in the fill area shall be monitored in real time. The study results can provide reference for the construction of similar filling projects in loess areas.
