Study on Mechanical Characteristics and Engineering Performance of Altered Rock in Pumped Storage Power Station
The existence of altered rock mass has significant impact on the stability of the rock mass in pumped storage power station en-gineering.The mechanical characteristics of rock mass with different alteration degrees are analyzed by indoor compression test, shear test, creep test, permeability test, field saturated shear test,dry-wet cycle shear test and other means. The test results show that the av-erage saturated compressive strength of strongly altered, weakly altered, and slightly altered rock masses are 0.2,37.9,and 71.8 MPa,respectively, and their engineering properties are similar to those of residual slope weathering, strongly weathered, and weakly weathered rock masses, respectively;due to the coarse mineral particles, the internal friction angle of weakly altered rock mass is43.10°~46.55°,which is higher than the internal friction angle of slightly altered rock mass of 39.2°~42.8°;in terms of resistance to permeability de-formation and damage, the critical permeability failure slope of the reshaped sample of strongly altered rock mass is 5.356~9.773,with the same permeability deformation and damage characteristics as gravel and sand;strongly altered rock mass has a creep effect, and its strength decreases with time;the water physicochemical characteristics of strongly altered rock mass are more obvious, and after dry-wet cycles, the shear strength decreases by 0%~6% .Based on the engineering mechanical properties of altered rock mass,a quantitative in-dex for the engineering performance classification of altered rock mass is established, and the study results have guiding significance for engineering treatment
