Study on Influence of Water-Binder Ratio on Mechanical Properties of Ductile Concrete containing Coarse Aggregates
Ductile concrete containing coarse aggregates has the advantages of strong adaptability to deformation and low cost, which makes it widely used in hydraulic structures. An experimental study on ductile concrete containing coarse aggregate with different water-binder ratios is carried out,and the effects of water-binder ratio and coarse aggregate content on compressive and flexural properties are investigated ex-perimentally.The results show that when the water-binder ratio is constant, with the increase of coarse aggregate content, the compressive strength increases first and then decreases, and when the coarse aggregate content is10%,the compressive strength reaches the highest value of 60.7MPa.However,the bending load, ultimate deflection and toughness index show a decreasing trend of different degrees. When the coarse aggregate content is 0,ductile concrete has the best flexural performance, its bending load reached 31.94 kN and the ultimate deflec-tion reached 2.01 mm respectively. When the content of coarse aggregate is constant, the compressive strength and flexural load show an in-creasing trend with the decrease of the water-binder ratio,it reaches the highest value when the water-binder ratio is 0.27,the compressive strength is 60.4 MPa and flexural load reaches 22.29 kN.The ultimate deflection increases first and then decreases with the decrease of the water-binder ratio, and the ductile concrete with a water-binder ratio of 0.30 reaches the maximum deflection of 1.64 mm.The results can provide reference for the application of ductile concrete containing coarse aggregate in hydraulic structures.
