Aiming at the problems of safety and environmental pro-tection in the use of conventional Rotating Control Device(RCD),this paper proposes a mud collecting device for RCD.The mud col-lecting device includes mud collecting tank,mud umbrella and de-flector cover,which are installed on the upper end of the RCD base assembly.The mud that slips off the drill floor or leaks from the stripper rubber is diverted to the BOP sump or mud return pipeline through the mud collecting tank.The mud collecting device is appli-cable to all working conditions of the RCD.It can not only maintain the normal use of the water cooling and oil lubrication pipelines of the conventional RCD,improve the working environment of the rotat-ing seal of the bearing assembly,improve the pressure grade and ser-vice life of the RCD,but also effectively avoid the problems of opera-tion safety and environmental pollution caused by the use of the RCD during the wellbore pressure control drilling process.
