The Essential Connotation and Educational Practice of the Thought of"Ji Si Jing(Offering Sacrifices with Reverence)"in the Pre-Qin Confucianism
In the rapid changes of modern society, the concept of reverence has gradually declined due to the prevalence of egoism. As the refinement of Confucius'humanistic thoughts on attaching importance to sacrifices,"offering sacrifices with reverence"is rooted in primitive religious feelings, patriarchal clan systems, and the concept of revering virtue. The pre-Qin Confucianism integrated moral values such as benevolence and filial piety into the rituals and righteousness of sacrifices, realizing the transformation of sacrificial objects from"serving the gods"to"serving people",and advocated maintaining"respect sincerely"through the subject's"thinking",which enabled the rational moral emotion of"respect"to be concretized and inherited in moral practice. As a model of the integration of Confucian political i-deals and moral practice, its educational practice demonstrated the profound thoughts of the pre-Qin Confucianism on the essence of life and social order from two aspects, namely"offering sacrifices according with rites"and"Shenzhong Zhuiyuan(Carefully handle the funeral rites of one's parents and piously offer sacrifices to distant ancestors.)",and it still has far-reaching implications for the cultivation of con-temporary civic morality and the construction of social ethics.
