An Analysis of Discourse Coherence in the Translation of the Texts of Taijiquan Dialogues——Taking Ying Xu You Xiang:Dialogues of Famous Chinese Taijiquan Masters as an Example
In recent years,with the development of overseas promotion activities of Taijiquan,the research on text translation in relat-ed aspects has developed rapidly,but the research on the translation strategies of Taijiquan classics in the form of dialogues is small in number and limited in content.The discourse characteristics of texts of dialogues,such as strong orality,loose themes,and implicit logical relationships,require translators to achieve discourse coherence.As for the English translation of Ying Xu You Xiang:Dialogues of Famous Chinese Taijiquan Masters,the techniques used by translators include strengthening the core of the dialogue by achieving thematic coher-ence,maintaining the lexical semantics by achieving intentional coherence,eliminating cultural barriers by using cultural coherence,and causal relationships by obtaining logical coherence,so as to achieve the coherence and integrity of the discourses of Taijiquan classic docu-ments in the form of dialogues,which is conducive to the reading and understanding of target readers.
