The rise of the printing industry stimulated the development of modern newspaper and periodical industry in Myanmar.The British colonists founded the earliest English-language newspapers and periodicals in Myanmar,which objectively promoted the birth of modern newspapers and periodicals in Myanmar,and also injected the atmosphere of modernization into Myanmar society as it transitioned from being traditional to modern.The activities and demands in aspects such as content editing,printing and distribution of newspapers and periodicals greatly changed the development situation of modern newspapers and periodicals in Myanmar.Since the 20th century,there have been more and more activities and practices of Myanmar people in running their own newspapers and periodicals,which has promoted the development of modern newspapers and periodicals in Myanmar.The development of the modern newspapers and periodicals not only witnessed the rise of nationalism in Myanmar,but also promoted this process.
