以好莱坞"经典"华人银幕形象——傅满洲为研究对象,分析认为,"黄祸论"是在种族主义、殖民主义和帝国主义的鼓吹之下逐渐发展成的一套"完备"的反华理论,其生成具有深刻的美国本土和国际环境因素.傅满洲的诞生是"黄祸论"泛滥的结果,成为西方强加于中国文化这一异质文明的"他者"身份的形象化符号,并随着时代发展演绎为"红祸论"和"中国威胁论".而贩卖"中国威胁论"的实质是美国转移国内矛盾,加强国家认同;实现孤立和遏制中国的险恶用心;对于异质文明的警惕和"儒家文明是西方文明的天敌"的执念.
Abstract
Taking the"classic"Chinese screen image in Hollywood films—Fu Manchu—as the research object,this study points out that the"Yellow Peril"has gradually evolved into a"complete"anti-China ideology supported by racism,colonialism,and imperialism,which is born with prominent American and international features.The birth of Fu Manchu is a result of the abuse of the"Yellow Peril",and he has become a symbol of the"other"identity imposed by the West on Chinese culture,an alien civilization for the West.And it has evolved over time into the"Red Peril"and"China Threat Theory".Essentially,the U.S.propagates the"China Threat Theory"to divert its domestic contradictions and strengthen national identity.And it also results from the sinister intention to isolate and contain China,the wary stance towards different civilizations,and the persistent belief that"Confucian civilization is the natural adversary of Western civilization".
