Study on "Mother workers" in Economic Life and Sustainable Development of Female Groups in a Yi Village
Hongcun,in the southwestern Sichuan Province,is a village inhabited by Yi peopleAfter the land transfers, most of the male farmers in Hongcun went to work in cities, while the female farmers who stayed were employed by foreign enterprises or local planting households, becoming"mother work-ers".The"mom workers"are not only employees of the enterprises, but also farmers who maintain their own garden economy and take care of their families. The case of Hongcun shows that"mother workers"strive to satisfy the material and cultural needs of their families through continuous labor to obtain eco-nomic income and material sources, and create their own meaning and value in family life and agricultural production.Governments and enterprises should recognize mother workers'efforts for their families and ag-ricultural production, and take the initiative to adapt to their needs and provide support for their sustain-able development.
