Lü Shuxiang was not only a linguist but also a translator.His translation is highly imbued with Chinese charm.We aim to elucidate the fundamental sources of the charm and rhythm in Lü Shuxiang's translations from the perspective of Dui-speech grammar,categorizing them into twelve aspects:four-character structure,juxtaposed Dui-speech,Dui-speech completion and intertextual interpretation,direct juxtaposition and double marker of binary operators,addition translation by Dui-speech,A-not-A questions,semi taut rhythm,subject-predictive Dui-speech,run-on sentences,flat structure,anadiplosis and donkey sentences,and translating nouns with verbs.We will use Dui-speech grammar theory to interpret the Chinese charm in Lü's translations and showcase the explanatory power of Dui-speech grammar through his translations.
