A Study on the Textual Borrowing Types in TEM-4 Integrated Writing
This paper aims to explore the textual borrowing in TEM-4 integrated writing,focusing on the different types with different proficiency levels.Thirty-two sophomore English majors were selected as the research participants.They were asked to write thre argu-mentative writing tests according to the TEM-4 syllabus.32 research participants were categorized into high-level and low-level groups based on the results of three test,while textual borrowing strategies they used in TEM-4 writing were classified into five types based on Shi's(2004)definition.This paper shows that:①In textual borrowing,the frequency and word number of Lexical Modification was the highest;the frequency and word number of Direct quotation was the lowest.②In different types of textual borrowing,there were certain differences between the two different level groups.Specifically,there(existed)significant differences in the frequency and word number of Direct quotation and Summary.
