A Foregrounding Analysis of Poetic Language in William Blake's Masterpiece"The Tyger"
William Blake is one of the early English Romantic poets in the 18th century.The language of his poetry is highly imagina-tive and creative."The Tyger"is a famous part of his poetry collection Songs of Experience.There are many opinions on The theme of"The Tyger".Foregrounding theory can serve the theme through various means of"prominence".Therefore,based on the theory of foregroun-ding under the perspective of functional stylistics,this paper analyses the language in his masterpiece"The Tyger"from the perspectives of qualitative deviation and quantitative deviation and explores how the poem achieves the expression of its theme through the means of foregrounding.
