The Reasons for Lexical Gaps in English-Chinese Translation and Translation Strategies
Language is the medium of communication and the carrier of culture.Due to differences in lifestyles,traditions,customs,beliefs,philosophies,values,etc.Each language has some unique culturally loaded words that reflect the culture in which they exist.Cul-turally-loaded words in the source language often have no lexical equivalents in the target language,which leads to the phenomenon of lex-ical gaps.Lexical gaps pose challenges in translation.This article aims to analyze the reasons for lexical gaps and explore corresponding translation strategies.
