An Analysis of the Translation of Yu Guofan's The Journey to the West from the Perspective of the Functional Equivalence Theory
Journey to the West is one of the four great classical works of China.Among many English translations,Yu Guofan's trans-lation is unique because of its distinctive academic characteristics.With the support of Eugene Nida's functional equivalence theory,this paper discusses the application of its translation method from lexical level,syntactic level and textual level,and the application of the func-tional equivalence theory in the English translation of Yu Guofan's Journey to the West.
