President Xi put forward that accelerate the modernization of education,build a strong education country,and run educa-tion that the people are satisfied with in the National education conference in September 2018.In December 2021,the document"14th Five Year Plan for Digital Economy Development"proposed to deepen the promotion of smart education.All of these measures demonstrate the increasing importance of smart education in the teaching process.The"English extracurricular activity"plays an extremely important role in improving the quality of college English teaching by providing reasonable extensions and supplements to the first classroom due to its advantages such as freedom in time and space selection and flexible and diverse methods.The article explores how smart education can em-power the English extracurricular activity.By analyzing the importance and significance of smart education,the methods and feasibility of empowering the second classroom of college English are discussed.
