English Translation of Public Signs under the Guidance of Skopos Theory—A Case Study of Public Signs in a Scenic Spot in Shanxi Province
Public signs are the important component of a region's linguistic and humanistic environment,and the English translation of public signs has a direct impact on the service quality and international image of the region.Under the guidance of the Skopos theory—skopos rule,coherence rule and fidelity rule,based on some translation errors in a 4A-level scenic spot in Shanxi Province,this paper explores the translation techniques of public signs in scenic spots such as borrowing,transliteration supplemented by semantic translation,annotation and omission so as to offer some suggestions for future research.
