A Comparative Analysis of Machine Translation and Human Translation of China-specific Discourse—A Case Study of the Report to the 20th CPC National Congress
In the context of globalization,accurate communication of China-specific discourse holds importance in international ex-changes.This paper takes the bilingual text of the report to the 20th CPC National Congress published by China Daily as the research sub-ject.It employs Google translation technology to generate machine translations and conducts a thorough comparative analysis with profes-sional human translations.The findings indicate that machine translation excels in speed in handling culture-loaded words and precise word usage,but it lags behind in accuracy and cultural sensitivity.Conversely,human translation prevails in its depth of understanding and cultural conveyance.Through the analysis of specific examples,this paper highlights the complementary of the two translation methods and advocates for a balanced approach to achieve more effective and accurate translation outcomes in the context of Chinese-specific dis-course,leveraging the speed of machine translation and the comprehension capabilities of human translation.
