Under the background of the"new era,new liberal arts"education and teaching reform,the foreign language education circle has reached a consensus on the teaching reform of English majors,emphasizing the cultivation of students'core qualities such as critical thinking ability,multicultural awareness and learning ability.Based on the concept of core literacy,this paper applies the teaching theory of Production-Oriented Approach(POA)and combines the course materials and teaching practice of"English reading"for English majors to study and build a three-effect teaching model of"professional knowledge+core literacy+humanistic elements"in the teaching process of English majors.In all aspects of teaching,the teaching model strives to guide students to consolidate their language skills,build a humanistic knowledge structure,expand the knowledge of language,culture,social science and other related disciplines,and cultivate the ability of independent learning and critical thinking and innovation.
