Effects of Using Debating Template in English Debating Class
Previous studies on English debating classes focused on teaching models and procedures with insufficient consideration of teaching means.Less studies dealt with the means to improve students'abilities in argumentation.This study is to explore the functions of the debating template based on Toulmin argument model on students'argumentation by means of a quantitative study.It is found that the debating template can improve clarity,relevance and significance of an argument.However,it is ineffective in improving accuracy of an argument.It takes long-term training and more practice to make a sound argument.
