《红楼梦》是中国古典小说的巅峰之作,目前广为人知的英译本有两个,一个出自英国汉学家大卫·霍克斯,另一个出自中国翻译家杨宪益、戴乃迭.文章对比分析了霍译本和杨译本,探讨了《红楼梦》英译过程中的归化与异化,以期为《红楼梦》翻译研究提供相关借鉴.
Abstract
As the greatest classical Chinese novel,A Dream of Red Mansions has two most recognized translations.One is from David Hawkes,a famous British sinologist,and the other is from Yang Hsien-Yi and Gladys Yang,two well-known literary translators in China.This study conducts a comparative analysis of the two translations,and discusses the strategies of domestication and foreignization in the process of translation,so as to provide a relevant reference for the translation study of a Dream of Red Mansions.
