Abstract
This article takes"The Dog of Babel"as an example to deeply explore the profound influence of Greek and Roman mythol-ogy on English language and literature.Greek and Roman mythology,as the cornerstone of Western culture,not only provides a wealth of vocabulary and idioms for the English language with its rich stories and symbolic meanings,but also serves as a source of inspiration for literary creation.In"The Dog of Babel",this influence is reflected in multiple aspects such as vocabulary selection,plot conception,and style shaping.This article reveals in detail how elements of Greek and Roman mythology are integrated into English language and litera-ture,adding profound cultural connotations and artistic charm to it.
