Practice of English Teaching in Environmental Geology
Drawing from the teaching practices of professional English in Environmental Geology at Lanzhou University, the study ex-plores the characteristics of undergraduates'English proficiency, evaluates the effectiveness of different teaching methods, and proposes strategies to enhance students'English skills. The study reveals that students possess strong listening and reading abilities, which enable them to comprehend the content of English professional textbooks. However, their oral expression skills are considerably lacking, making it difficult for them to articulate relevant professional knowledge effectively. In light of these findings, this paper recommends the implemen-tation of the"flipped classroom"teaching method, which encourages greater student participation in the learning process, aiming to im-prove their overall English proficiency.
