Practice and Research on Reading Teaching Reform of English Majors in Regional Universities under the Background of New Liberal Arts
Under the new liberal arts framework,regional universities face challenges in diverse talent cultivation goals and an appli-cation-oriented shift,necessitating reform in English reading courses.The study analyzes the teaching conditions at institutions like Hunan University of Science and Engineering,integrating new liberal arts principles to suggest reforms in curriculum design,teaching models,and resource development,supported by case studies.It shows that regional universities should cultivate the language and cross-cultural competency synthetically,innovative teaching methods,and build local characteristic resources.Under the new liberal arts context,reform in English reading courses should prioritize application-oriented talent cultivation,integrate into the local characteristic resource,and strengthen language skills in both local and cross-cultural settings.
