Research on the Status Quo and Attribution of Cultural Consciousness in Foreign Language Education of Ethnic Universities
The study investigates the current state of cultural consciousness cultivation among English majors in ethnic colleges and u-niversities,exploring the reasons for existing problems through teacher interviews. The results show that most of the students have a high enthusiasm for expressing Chinese culture in English and have a certain grasp of basic cross-cultural communication knowledge. However, there is a deficiency in their understanding of the basic knowledge of Chinese and Western cultures, and their ability to express Chinese culture in English needs to be improved. There is also an urgent need for the enhancement of the critical thinking awareness of Chinese and Western cultures. The reasons are that although teachers generally have a consciousness of teaching Chinese culture, their ability to ex-press Chinese culture in English still needs to be enhanced. It is suggested that supplementation of Chinese culture materials in textbooks be necessary in the future.
