An Elementary Course on Translation between English and Chinese translation serves as a foundational course in the com-pulsory English curriculum for non-English majors, aiming at cultivating students to be competent in English-Chinese translation and im-proving their ability to be bilingual and cross-culturally communicative as well.Given that cultural differences significantly impact transla-tion practice,English teachers should guide students to understand the interplay between language and culture during instruction, making the cultivation of intercultural awareness a core objective of translation courses. This study discusses the importance of fostering intercultur-al awareness in college English translation teaching.By addressing existing challenges in pedagogical practices,it explores optimization strategies from five perspectives:teacher awareness, teaching principles, content design, instructional methods, and evaluation systems.
