Can Fintech Innovation Improve Banks'Inclusive Services?Research on the Compatibility of Bank's Inclusive Goals and Business Goals
The innovation of financial technology to the organization and business model of com-mercial banks provides a new way to alleviate the asymmetry of risk and return in inclusive financial business.In view of this,this paper engages in an empirical investigation on the impact of Fintech innovation onimproving banks'inclusive services,leveraging data from 117 commercial banks,en-compassing micro and small enterprise loans as well as inclusive financial loans,juxtaposed with their respective patent records.The findings delineate that Fintech innovations have tangibly bol-stered the credit allocation of commercial banks to micro and small enterprises and the inclusive fi-nance sector,thereby enhancing their capacity to provide inclusive services.Mechanistic analysis reveals that,at various developmental junctures,Fintech innovations enhance inclusive service ca-pabilities by promoting technological advancements and elevating the technological efficiency of commercial banks.Furthermore,the study discerns that the escalation in the level of Fintech inno-vation effectively mitigates the impacts on the profit-making and risk management capacities of banks brought about by their inclusive finance operations.This research not only augments the ex-tant literature on financial services underpinning the real economy,but also provides guidance for commercial banks on a high-quality development path that balances inclusive and business goals.
