Research on the Impact of Corporate ESG Performance on Supply Chain Network Position:Path Testing and Mechanism Analysis
As green sustainable development has become a global consensus, the question of whether ESG performance can contribute to the enhancement of the supply chain network position for Chinese companies holds significant importance for the security and stability of supply chain.Based on this, this paper takes the data of Chinese A-share listed companies in the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges from 2010 to 2021 as a sample, and verifies the impact and pathways of corporate ESG performance on the supply chain network position.Empirical research findings indi-cate that an improvement in corporate ESG performance can increase the number of corporate part-ners and enrich the structural holes they occupy, leading to an elevation of the company's supply chain network position.Mechanism studies suggest that ESG performance can help companies re-duce financial risks and enhance supply chain resilience, thereby elevating the company's supply chain network position.Extended research using network analysis methods reveals that the sum of ESG performance between customers and suppliers can increase the probability of relationship for-mation,while the difference can decrease the probability of relationship formation.Examining the influence of the ESG performance levels of both parties separately, this paper finds that both of them contribute to the formation of supply and demand relationships, and the promotional effect of the supplier's ESG performance is more pronounced. This paper theoretically provides new perspec-tives for companies to enhance their core competitiveness in the supply chain, and offers empirical evidence and policy insights for China to further implement sustainable development principles, promote corporate ESG practices, and support the security and stability of the supply chain.
