The Influence of Digital Economy's Development on Intergenerational Occupational Mobility:From the Perspective of Equality under the Background of Chinese-style Modernization
Chinese-style modernization is the modernization of common prosperity for all people.As an important driving force for promoting Chinese-style modernization,whether the digital economy's development could improve social equality and promote the realization of common prosperity needs further and deep analysis.By matching the measurement index of the digital economy's development and Chinese Family Panel Studies(CFPS)2014-2018 dataset,this paper empirically examines the effect of the digital economy's development on intergenerational occupational mobility and discusses the influential mechanism from the perspective of equality.We find that the digital economy's development increases the intergenerational occupational mobility.The influential mechanism analysis reveals that there are three channels through which the digital economy increases intergenerational occupational mobility,including the intergenerational educational mobility mechanism,the industrial structure transformation and upgrading mechanism and the mechanism of innovation incentives for enterprises and empowering innovation in the region or cities.The result of further analysis suggests that the effect of the digital economy's development on intergenerational occupational mobility is heterogeneous between rural and urban families,inner regions and coastal areas,high skilled and low skilled families.This paper enriches the theoretical analysis about the digital economy's social equality effect under the background of Chinese-style modernization and provides policy support for how to smooth social mobility and push on common prosperity.
