The Characteristics,Driving Forces,and Planning Implications of Chengdu's Changing Peri-Urbanization Process
As the phenomenon of peri-urbanization becomes more and more common,peri-urbanized areas are at the crossroads of different development scenarios.The choice of different development strategies will lead to completely different development results such as sustainable development,maintaining the status quo and relying on traps.The development of peri-urbanized areas in the suburbs of megacities is related to the country's economic development,social stability,and improvement of the human settlement environment.Active intervention and smart governance are imperative.Taking Chengdu as an example,this paper studies the temporal and spatial pattern of peri-urbanization development and the regularity of its characteristic evolution.On this basis,it analyzes the driving mechanism of peri-urbanization development in Chengdu from three aspects:transportation infrastructure,industrial park construction and spontaneous development of urban-rural fringe.Based on the innovative approach of the planning and implementation of Chengdu's urban ecological zone and the overall urban-rural planning,it further explores whether peri-urbanization can become a sustainable development area through planning intervention.
