In the development of Hankou city,water has played a vital role,exemplified by the emergence,evolution,and eventual disappearance of the Yudai River.This paper analyzes the planning of historic waterfront districts in cities both in China and abroad,delves into Hankou's geography,and explores the history and transformation of the Yudai River and Yuangong Dike.It includes an examination of the river's bridges and course,aiming to reconstruct the riverside scenery of the Yudai River.The paper also analyzes the urban image and spirit of place changes in the Yudai River area,studies its role in the urban development and evolution of Hankou,and discusses the mechanisms behind this urban change.Finally,it offers strategies for urban development in the Yudai River area,intending to provide insights for the development planning of historic districts in waterfront cities.
