Exploration on Application of Space Syntax in Narrative Reconstruction of Memory Place
The article addresses the current memory crisis and design challenges faced by urban renewal in China, elaborating on the significance of memory places and the methods and practices of reconstructing narratives. It highlights three roles of spatial syntax in the reconstruction of narratives at memory places:uncovering potential narrative information, selecting and optimizing narrative paths, and simulating different narrative scenarios.Additionally, the article innovatively applies analytical technologies such as DepthmapX convex spaces,VGA,and Agent in case studies from western settlements and eastern block renewals. These technologies provide technical support for making the intangible tangible, the fragmented whole, and the complex simple in the reconstruction practices at memory places. This technical application aims to make the narratives of reconstructed memory places more rational, meaningful, and capable of enhancing cultural identity.
