The Influence of Boundary Elements on Walkability in Beijing Compound-Unit Livable Streets:A Case Study of Yuyuantan South Road,Taiping Road and Cuiwei Road
With the goal of improving the walkability of urban streets,this study investigates the influence of street boundary space elements on walkability,taking Beijing Compound-Unit livable streets as examples.The study analyzes the boundary element composition and combination patterns of three Beijing Compound-Unit livable case streets,and scores the street walkability based on streetscape images,correlates the elements with the walkability scores.The study points out the boundary elements with high impact on walkability and their roles,and provides references for the renewal design of compound lifestyle-type streets.The study shows that the number of elements,the type of perceived boundary elements,and the detailed design of the elements have a high impact on the walkability of the street.In addition,the flexible use of green space elements can significantly improve the walkability of streets.
