The article analyzes the synergistic relationship between the industrial-spatial system in the London metropolitan area using a coupled coordination model.By reviewing the evolutionary characteristics of the UK's policy mechanisms and spatial planning system,it summarizes the mechanisms influencing the co-evolution of the industrial-spatial system.The results show that:(1)The synergy level of the London metropolitan area's industrial-spatial system exhibits a layered decline from the center outward in spatial terms,with a dysfunctional decline phase from 2001 to 2010 and a slow optimization phase from 2011 to 2021;(2)The regional governance policy mechanisms and spatial planning system in the UK have undergone complex changes,showing temporal synchronicity with the co-evolution phases of the industrial-spatial system.
