In recent years,the construction of smart cities in China have put forward new requirements for the education of urban and rural planning in colleges and universities and promote the education reform in depth.Based on the analysis of status quo and problems of urban and rural planning education in colleges and universities,this paper proposes a new direction for the reform of urban and rural planning education supported by smart city concept,reconstructs the curriculum system,updates the teaching content,integrates interdisciplinary knowledge,pays more attention to project practice,innovates and cultivates compound talents to meet the needs of society at multiple levels,and predicts the application effect.It is hoped that the conclusions provide valuable ideas and references for the future reform and development of urban and rural planning major.
