Research on the Identification of Construction and Operation Characteristics of Community Life Circles Based on Image Encoding Methods:A Case Study of Community Life Circles in Yuhua District,Changsha City
With the advent of the"image era",images have become an increasingly important source of information in urban planning research.Addressing the current issue where machine-dominated urban image recognition methods can identify material environmental elements in images and achieve large-scale applications, while traditional image analysis methods, such as diagramming and overlays, can translate social elements in space but fail to elevate them into universal spatial laws, this article attempts to combine image theory with coding methods. It explores the translational relationships between spatial elements, such as building components, structures, street furniture, and social attributes, such as spatial ownership, from images like maps, aerial photography, and photographs. The article constructs a technical method for extracting spatial construction and operation characteristics from images through three stages:the translation of spatial elements into social attributes, the extraction and verification of facility spatial utilization characteristics and social subjects, and the summarization and verification of construction and operation characteristics. This method is applied to the image analysis of 296 community life circle facility points in Yuhua district,Changsha city, and reveals the construction and operation characteristics of community life circle facilities. These include breaking property boundaries through collaborative breakthroughs by construction entities and clustering of facilities due to operational similarities. The study concludes that the image encoding method enhances the scalability of image analysis by supplementing translatable elements in images and labeling these elements to improve the reproducibility of translations, addressing the limitation of small-scale applicability in traditional analysis methods such as diagramming and overlays.Furthermore, the non-linear cyclic encoding process of this method helps uncover interest communities in the construction and operation of community life circle facilities from images.
