The Role and Impact of Yemen's Houthis in State Rebuilding
The emergence and development of the Houthis is not only a direct result of the revival of the Yemeni Zaydis in the face of the marginalization of political and social life, but also a reflection of the two sets of structural contradictions in the construction of the modern nation-state in Yemen, namely, the secularization of the state versus the political Islamic movement, and the strengthening of state control versus the tradition of tribal self-governance.Along with the Houthis'strong takeover of power, their influence on the country's restructuring is increasing, not only changing the Sunni-dominated political power structure in Yemen, but also further weakening the control of the legitimate government, dominating the direction of the country's restructuring and directly affecting regional security. The Houthis will continue to dominate the political restructuring of the country, and there is still a long way to go to achieve political reconciliation in Yemen, following the commitments made with the Presidential Council to achieve lasting peace in the country.
