Japan's"Indo-Pacific Strategy"was proposed by late Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.It has been inherited and developed by incumbent Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. The new version of Japan's"Indo-Pacific Strategy"has broader scope with a"universal"concept,a wide range of topics and partners, and strong securitization and pan-security overtones. It is a comprehensive international strategy of Japan that combines attributes of alliance,anti-China containment, security, and global orientation.Japan's strengthening of its"Indo-Pacific Strategy"is driven by considerations such as maintaining its status as an economic power, its long-cherished desire to become a"political power,"and containing China. It will undermine global development, harm regional maritime security, and interfere with China's reunification process.Japan's"Indo-Pacific Strategy"faces triple constraints, including strategic overdraft, unstable economic environment, and weak external support.Although the above constraints may be difficult to reverse the direction of Japan's efforts for its"Indo-Pacific Strategy"in the short term, its effectiveness will be limited.
