The Cognition and Response of the United States and Other Western Countries to the Global South
The Global South plays an increasingly prominent role in international affairs and has become a key force affecting the transformation of the world order and the shaping of the international pattern. The United States and other Western countries recognize the rising trend of the Global South, evaluate its role and influence in international affairs, analyze the political demands of the Global South and the motivation behind it,and reflect on their Global South policies. On this basis, the governments of the United States and other Western countries have taken a three-pronged approach to address the geopolitical reality of the rise of the Global South:first, strengthen the diplomatic input to the Global South and show the importance of the Global South;second is to promote the discourse shaping strategy of deconstruction and construction, and build a good image of the United States and other Western countries in the Global South;third is to adopt policies of weakening and differentiation to reduce the internal cohesion of the Global South. The strategic responses and policy adjustments made by the United States and other Western countries towards the rise of the Global South will have a complex impact on the future development of the Global South, the distribution of camps in the international community, the transformation of global governance mechanisms, and the promotion of the world development agenda. However, this impact will also be constrained by the limited scope of policy adjustment, uncertainty in policy implementation effects, and the awakening of political awareness in the Global South.
