Adjustment in EU's Perception of China and Its Impacts
At present, there is a deviation in the EU's perception of China, which argues that China's economic model has damaged the EU's economic competitiveness, challenged the Western-dominated international order, and weakened the EU's strategic position. Therefore, the EU promotes the"Indo-Pacific Strategy,"strengthens transatlantic coordination on China policy, and rebalances the China-EU economy with a more confrontational stance. While the EU's China policy is becoming increasingly geopolitical, there has been a security turn in China-EU relations, which indicates a decline in the closeness of economic and trade relations, and an increase in the impact of ideological differences on bilateral cooperation. However, there is a strong endogenous driving force for China-EU relations, which enjoy bright prospects of development, and both China and Europe are staunch defenders of multilateralism. The EU needs to cooperate with China to jointly solve global problems, its adjustment of China policy has constraints.
