Modi Government's Policy on the China-India Boundary Issue
Since the Modi government came into power,it has insisted on using the border issue as a policy tool to achieve its international and domestic strategic goals. In order to shape a favorable situation in the game of major countries, shift contradictions in domestic political struggles, seek benefits in the transformation of realist diplomacy, and gain an advantage in military struggles, the Modi government has taken an aggressive offensive on the China-India border issue. This is both a strategic choice based on national interests and contains a unique cognitive logic, which is influenced by multiple factors such as Brahmanism, mandala thinking, victim mentality, identity as a British colonial successor, and the zero-sum game.As Modi embarks on his third term,it is highly possible that he will continue to maintain the tone of"toughness and stability"in his border policy towards China. This will further promote the spillover effects of the border dispute, exert pressure on China through external forces, and constantly escalate the means of dispute control. Therefore, the management and control of the China-India border areas in the future will face significant challenges.
