US-European Artificial Intelligence Defense Cooperation and Its Limitations
The cooperation between the United States and European countries in artificial intelligence defense is based on the so-called"common interests"and"democratic values."NATO is at the core of the transatlantic defense system, and the US-EU Trade and Technology Council,G7,bilateral dialogues, and multilateral forums are important platforms for US-European AI defense cooperation.Transatlantic artificial intelligence defense cooperation has made certain progress, mainly manifested in enhancing cooperation in the defense industry, improving information and intelligence sharing capabilities, establishing artificial intelligence defense architecture and technical standards, and building partnerships for artificial intelligence defense.Although there has been progress in the above-mentioned areas, transatlantic AI defense cooperation faces various constraints such as the differences in strategic intent, technological capabilities, legal compatibility, and industry competition. In the foreseeable future, changes in the US'domestic politics may add many uncertainties to artificial intelligence defense cooperation in the Atlantic region.
