This paper combs systematically the primary sources,environmental distribution,and potential risks of sex hormones in water environment,and evaluates the working principles and application advantages of the advanced oxidation process with hydroxyl radicals as oxidative matters.Furthermore,it presents a comprehensive analysis on the practical application efficacy,and future development directions of the advanced oxidation process as well as their hybrid technologies in the removal of sex hormones,thereby providing a theoretical reference for the efficient treatment of hormone-contaminated water bodies.
