Microcrystalline cellulose(MCC)is chemically modified with propyloxazoline(POZ)to obtain an amidated microcrystalline cellulose(AD-MCC).AD-MCC/PLA composites are prepared through melt blending of AD-MCC and polylactic acid(PLA).The preparation conditions for AD-MCC are explored by means of Fourier transform infrared spectrometer, scanning electron microscope,X-ray powder diffraction, thermogravimetric analyzer, and universal testing machine. The effect of AD-MCC addition amount on the properties of AD-MCC/PLA is studied. It is shown by the results that AD-MCC with a POZ grafting ratio of 31.47%is obtained after the reaction has performed for 8 h at 120℃under the catalysis of NaOCH3.AD-MCC improves the compatibility between MCC and PLA,and significantly enhances the mechanical properties of PLA.Compared with pure PLA,the tensile strength, elongation at break and impact strength of AD-MCC/PLA with 2.5%(wt.)of AD-MCC are increased by 26%,61%and 57%,respectively.
