The process routes and progress for soda ash production using brine and spent sulfates as raw materials are reviewed, and the current situation and potential problems of different spent salts to soda ash production processes are compared and analyzed. The brine to soda ash production process is relatively mature, but there are still shortcomings such as high energy consumption and complex process.Using sulfates to produce soda ash provides a new idea for spent salts to soda ash, which can be combined with carbon dioxide utilization to make the production process more economical and cleaner, and promote the achievement of"carbon dioxide emission peaking and carbon neutrality"goal. The development prospects are proposed for soda ash production using sodium sulfate and CO2 as raw materials.
