The treatment techniques for organic pollutants in coal mining water in China are reviewed, and the advantages and disadvantages of different treatment techniques are analyzed.Main challenges and research directions for the engineering application of organic pollutant treatment techniques in coal mining water are outlined.Based on the advantages and disadvantages of different treatment techniques, the suitability of each treatment technique for different water qualities is analyzed.Advanced oxidation method shows good efficacy in treating with organic pollutants, but is greatly affected by the salinity of the water.Coagulation-precipitation and adsorption methods exhibit poor performance in treating with persistent pollutants.Reverse osmosis technique is widely applied in highly saline coal mining water.Biological treatment methods are influenced by the salinity and pH of coal mining water, requiring the selection and domestication of adapted microorganisms. The applicability of various techniques in different types of coal mining water(acidic, alkaline, highly saline, etc.)is elucidated, providing reference for the control of organic pollutants in coal mining water.
