A 5-year evaluation and relevant factors of root canal therapy for cracked teeth with chronic pulpitis
Objective To evaluate the 5-year survival rate and influencing factors of root canal therapy in patients with cracked teeth complicated with chronic pulpitis by retrospective analysis, and to provide for the clinical treatment. Methods A total of 71 teeth diagnosed as cracked teeth with chronic pulpitis range from January 2015 to December 2016 were inclued.Root canal therapy effects were evaluated after 5-year follow-up.Age,gender,tooth position, distribution of the cracks, depth of the cracks, periodontal status and full crown restoration of the patients were analyzed, and correlation analysis method were used to identify the main factors of cracked teeth with chronic pulpitis. Results 69 patients were evaluated after 5-year follow-up and 2 patients were lost. The overall survival rate was 85.51%.Multivariate analysis showed that periodontal status and full crown restoration were independent influencing factors for the effective survival rate(P<0.05).Conclusion The therapeutic effects of cracked teeth with chronic pulpitis can be efficiently predicted by the depth of cracks and the periodontal status.Postoperative full crown restoration could increase the survival rate of cracked teeth with chronic pulptitis.
