Meta-analysis of prevention and inhibition of dental caries by Silver diamine fluoride
Objective To comprehensively and systematically evaluate the clinical effect of Silver diamine fluoride(SDF)on caries The method of tooth prevention and control selection provides scientific basis. Methods Search CNKI,Wanfang,VIP,CBM,PubMed,Web of Science,Cochrane Library,Science Direct,Randomized controlled trial articles on the prevention and inhibition of dental caries with silver ammonium fluoride were collected from self-built database until in May 2023.The outcome indexes included:the number of lost dental fillings, the number of newly developed caries, and the number of inactive caries.satat17.0 was used for data analysis in this meta-analysis.Results A total of 1532 literatures were initially retrieved from the above database, and 10 literatures were included according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results of meta-analysis showed that there was no significant difference in the number of tooth surfaces of new caries between silver diamine fluoride and sodium fluoride(SMD=-0.133,95%CI=-0.28~0.01,P=0.503).Silver ammonium fluoride was more abundant in the surface number of stationary caries(SMD=0.626,95%CI=0.42~0.83,P=0.915).Compared with blank control, there was no significant difference in the number of caries lost and filled teeth(SMD=-0.519,95%CI=-1.18~0.14,P=0).In terms of tooth surface number of new caries, silver ammonium fluoride was less(SMD=-0.448,95%CI=-0.62~-0.28,P=0.085).The amount of silver diamine fluoride was higher in the surface number of stationary caries(SMD=0,95%CI=0.62~0.86,P=0.34).Conclusion Silver diamine fluoride is beneficial to prevent and inhibit dental caries, and it is recommended to be widely used in clinic.
