A retrospective analysis of occupational exposure among medical staff in a stomatological hospital
Objective To investigate the basic situation of occupational exposure of medical staff in a provincial stomatological hospital and analyze related risk factors,so as to provide reference for strengthening the occupational safety and health protection management of medical personnel specialized in dentistry.Methods The method of retrospective survey was used to summarize and analyze the occupational exposure data of medical staff in the hospital from January 2019 to December 2022,while occupationally exposed personnel were tracked and followed up.Results From January 2019 to December 2022,a total of 134 medical personnel had 150 occupational exposures during the 4-year period,Among them,40.00%were doctors,58.67%were nurses,and 1.33%were laboratory technicians.Among the 150 cases of occupational exposure,the sharp instrument stabbing injury during operation or surgery took the first place,accounting for 46.00%;followed by sorting instruments or cleaning instruments after consultation and treatment,accounting for 42.67%.The types of injuries were all sharp injuries,and the sharp objects that caused occupational exposure were mainly burs(29.33%),syringes(21.33%),cleaning tips/scraping tips(16.00%),and enlarged needles and other root canal instruments(9.33%).Conclusion The occupational exposure rate of medical staff in stomatological hospital is at a high level,and there are differences in the occupational exposure rate of different positions.The occupational exposure rate of medical staff with low seniority is high.Safety management should be strengthened clinically,and preventive measures should be improved to reduce the occupational exposure rate.
